Growing up I recall our family belonging to a Presbyterian, a Methodist, and at least two Lutheran churches. First thing they&amp;#39;d do was to join the choir and get involved with some kind of youth activity, which I would then have to participate in. I think they enjoyed the sense of belonging. They did enjoy a good sermon. Mom tended to end up leading the choir. I sang in the Lutheran choir Mom directed until I finally decided that church wasn&amp;#39;t for me and stopped going. My folks surprised me by not making any kind of fuss about my choice. I wouldn&amp;#39;t call either of them &amp;quot;free thinkers&amp;quot;. They were both Republicans. But they did respect adult choices and I guess they decided I was becoming an adult and let me go my way. I had to give them credit for that.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6940481982884496493/7885117959134221764/comments/default/8186925583990258646'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6940481982884496493/7885117959134221764/comments/default/8186925583990258646'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://talesfromthecoast.blogspot.com/2009/06/no-inspirations.html?showComment=1245527591220#c8186925583990258646' title=''/><author><name>lk</name><email>noreply@blogger.com</email></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://talesfromthecoast.blogspot.com/2009/06/no-inspirations.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6940481982884496493.post-7885117959134221764' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6940481982884496493/posts/default/7885117959134221764' type='text/html'/></entry></feed>
