They&amp;#39;d storm loyalists&amp;#39; homes and tar and feather (aka &amp;quot;kill) them. There are a fair number of Iraqis over in th...</title><content type='html'>POD:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are a fair number of Iraqis over in the San Joaquin Valley, around Modesto.  I knew a guy over there who had an Iraqi doctor.  The difference between Mexico and Iraq is that only the well-off Iraqis can make it this far.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Buttery&amp;#39;s a little crowded for my taste on weekends.  Another place to hang with a pastry is Hoffman&amp;#39;s -- but only after 6 pm, when they have live jazz. Not a hard thing to do -- it&amp;#39;s a short document, essentially one page. What I&amp;#39;d forgotten was that the way Thomas Jefferson had written and edited the thing was that the last two thirds of it was, basically, this rant against the loathed British monarch (who isn&amp;#39;t actually named). But I don&amp;#39;t go there for the coffee crowd. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I could hear the bombs going off. I&amp;#39;m about 10 miles up into the mountains. No local bombs. Up above Soquel/Aptos -- through the fog. And at Chris&amp;#39;s house by Costco, insanity for the few days prior. Bottle rockets whizzing by windows during the night.
